I watched a documentary on the mass extinction of frogs and other amphibians due to a disease and the direct results on our environment. Though I shall never see many of the varieties still in existance...when entire species are wiped out by disease it makes me take notice. Because they are frogs, rather than say roses or blue jays.people take little notice. However, if tomorrow cardinals and tulips.or hops and corn just were decimated...what would we do ? There are some great caring people here whom I doubt are even aware of this issue. I hoped to sneak my way into spreading word via comments...lol
We three had an affinity with frogs, RRR, you and I Indi. Remember my green legs? As you are doing, I'd like to contribute in helping to bring attention to the danger our friends are in in thanks for weeks of fun we had back then. gg
Done it, Indi. I sent them an e-mail because I wasn't sure how to enter, I put a sonnet and a haiku(see below) in my message, so maybe that will count as an entry. It was fun, but strange that for once I looked outside of Poetry Zone, saw your name, and the word Froggy. We did have some happy times with Richard insulting each other didn't we?
BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE- A sonnet to frogs
Come piper, weave your magic, charm them all. Invite them to your amphibian ball, with golden salamanders shining bright, and newts, and toads singing throughout the night.
So ill-informed your masters seem to be, they think the only colour frogs can be is slimy, warty green, with puffed-out chest and never seek to see frogs at their best.
Before it is too late please let them know the beauty of frogs' silken rainbow glow. And let them see how this beauty will fade if saving measures are not quickly made.
Then let them dance with frogs and sing along joining in a rousing 'Save The Frogs' song.
and then I tried a haiku
haiku 5-7-5 to a frog
so still the water so sad flat lifeless and dead a frog hops brings life
Let me know if anyone else enters, and show me your own entry (ies) if you would. Love, Anne
Sorry Anne. Was gone on my first ever real vacation in my entire life. Havent been able to write anything yet. However...DID get to view hand written letters and writings and several hundred year old books of poetry by Emily Dickenson, Harriet Beecher Stowe and a slew of other female writers. Boston was great.
